The Lake was created for Local Jinni’s delightful Scoot and Screen tour of Canberra urban spaces in March 2022 and shown as part of the Surface Festival.
Water collected from Lake Burley Griffin and Sullivan’s creek was videoed through a microscope and layered up with images of the lake surface and surrounding infrastructure then projected onto a ‘curtain’ across the path in Glebe Park.
Tour participants could ride their electric scooters through the curtain and into the projections. Performers holding micro projectors created an immersive moving installation of watery images.
